April 30 Better Days Ahead!!My wife's company came through!! Gave her a new, in the box, monitor today!! I apoligize for bad-mouthing them! So I have mine back!! Problem..... my modem died a horrible death!! But tomorrow, my cable peeps will be here to make it right!! I am on hers now!! It's old and slow.... but she is on the list for new one soon. Rameses XVII. their blue-horned ram mascot, died Thursday from an infection, the Charlotte News & Observer reported this week...... on it's FRONT PAGE!!
This, though, seemed newsworthy, as the 8-year-old Rameses was done in by (cue the sinister music) HIS SON!!
The Oepipus moment can two weeks ago in the field they shared, whe they butted heads - what father hasn't done that with his son?? - and the collision snapped off one of Ramseses' horns and an infection set in.
"On Thursday, I got up before daybreak and went out to check on him, and he was worse, "said Rob Hogan, keeper of the mascot. "It was obvious he wasn't going to make it".
His son, Rameses XVIII will assume the throne.

BAD 'Tech' Day!!Woke up this morning and was confronted with, "My monitor isn't working'!! Sure enough, it was DEAD!! Now keep in mind that my wife works for the largest independent oil refiner in the U.S.!! And she works from home. So being the good hubby, I shut down my PC and gave her mine! Problem was..... I figured two things wrong.
#1 That her company would let us buy a new one ....... No Way!! They will send a 'Used Replacement' in a week or so!!
#2 That my new laptop would work with our cable.. Wrong again!! After spending 2 hours on the phone with Time Warner (and having a lost connection TWICE!!), and dragging my laptop back and forth to the main modem 9 times, it was determined that the laptop needs to be programmed to accept the cable connection! DUH!!
So they are sending out a person on Thursday (of course, between 8 AM and 5 PM) to do that!!
So for now, I am using her....... &%$@#^ WONDERFUL computer!! Always a little slice of heaven!! So, the song on here?? You are stuck with it!! LOL

April 28 Trojan Horse???Holy Crap!! My Firewall/Anti-Virus/Anti-Spyware program (ZoneAlarm) just detected a 'Trojan Horse' attempt on my computer! It was quarantined and deleted but....... let's just say, that's why we ALL need protection! There are BAD people out there who get their kicks out of screwing with our computers!! ZoneAlarm and Norton are the best but there are lots of really good free ones out there too! Beckham handed one of the boys his jersey after a Galaxy soccer match in Honolulu. But, just as in soccer, possession seems to be the key issue. After a failed attempt to share the jersey, both families have retained attorneys and lawsuits have been threatened, the Honolulu Advertiser reported.

April 26 Why I Live In Southern California!.......Because of days like today! Sunny, 82F and a nice breeze coming off of the Pacific Ocean. While Becky worked in the garden, I took the 350Z to get it gassed up and then took a short cruise along the coast. Now it's her turn!! She's taking Bonnie to Seal Beach to walk along the pier while I watch the Lakers game. It's just one of those 'Picture Postcard' days!!

April 25 I Got Nuthin'!!But that has never stopped me before! LOL!! In fact, the last time I wrote that, I posted a 10,000 word blog!! So let's see what comes to my twisted mind today, shall we?
My dogs, well two of them (Bonnie and Buzz), DESPISE the mailperson. They have other 'issues' too! Buzz is frightened by roosters (probably from his 'street days' of invading chicken coops!), and Bonnie goes BALLISTIC if she hears a harmonica!! I'm still working on that one!! Now, I watch 'Dog Whisperer' and I've even bought a few of his books so I can learn to be the 'Pack Leader'. But...... our mail comes through a slot in our garage and into a basket that I set up. The 'slot' has a hinged metal plate on it and when these two hear it close, they go crazy!!!!! So I, being a VERY bad dad, love to use a stick to open and close it about, oh, seven times a day!! Just to catch their reaction!! I'm a BAD DADDY!! But it's so damned funny!! I can stand outside of the garage where they can see me and do it and they will go nuts every time!! I can't help myself!! Just call me Pavlov!! Darn!! I guess that makes up for yesterday at the grocery store!! Someone slap me!!!!

Just got back from Lowes. Becky needed a 'human forklift' to lug the clay pots and bags of potting soil into and out of my SUV. Her job is to plant things and mine is to water and feed them for the next three years!! Today she bought mint!! April 23 Savants!!! Holy Crap!I'm watching this amazing program on National Geographic Channel called 'Memory Masters'. Unbeleivable!!!!! Some were born Savants, some became Savants and some are Idiot Savants. Remember the movie 'Rain Man'?? This guy, Kim, is the person the movie was made about. He has memorized every highway route in the U.S., every zip code and every area code. He has read over 10,000 books and can recite them back word for word!! He also read the New York City bus schedule ONCE, and was able to read it back a year later! Problem is, he can't fry an egg, tie his shoes and his Dad has to dress him. But, he can read two pages of a book at the same time!
Another guy was hit on the head with a baseball and since then, 20 years ago, if you give a date and year, he can tell you what day of the week it was and what he did that day.
Still another is a Mathematics wizard. They asked him to divide 64 by 187 and he immediately, IN HIS HEAD, gave the answer....... 150 numbers after the decimal point!! He can solve PI to the Trillionth!!! Now he is solving Prime Number problems... again, in his head!
And this guy 'Howard' can tell you the result of every soccer game ever played and every horse race ever run!! But he is on a street corner in London and can't find his way back to his hotel or get on a bus.
It's like these people have a huge hard drive in their heads, which really a brain is, except theirs are huge and fast! I can barely remember what I did last week!! LOL

April 22 Happy Earth Day!!It's GOOD to be Green!! We celebrated by planting herbs today!! Chives, Dill, Parsley, Oregano, Basil and Rosemary! It was a beautiful day and we had fun! Now, despite a friend's (Isabelle!!) protests, I am gonna encourage a 'Show Your Garden Week'...... unless it's too early?? Maybe next month! I can't wait to see Caroldee's!!! So get busy!! LOL! April 21 YUMMY!!!!!Becky made our usual Monday night dinner tonight. Spaghetti and homemade meat (turkey) sauce! As usual it was perfect! But while at the grocery store (Albertsons) today, they had Artichokes, beautiful ones!!, on sale at $1:00 each!! Usually they cost between $3 and $4 each!! Now, I realize that my friends outside of California have no idea what to do with these tasty vegetables but we like to grill them on the BBQ after steaming them first!! And then serve them with a delicious dipping sauce!! HEAVEN!!

Aftermath.....Things are back to normal here, at least as normal as things get here! The relatives are gone, my chores (watering, going to Lowe's and grocery shopping) and now I'm watching the Lakers playoff game against Denver. Man!! Did the Lakers make out when they got Pau Gasol for practically NOTHING!! The guy is awesome! And of course, there's Kobe! I'm looking for Lakers and Celtics in the Finals...... an old rivalry revisited!
Later today it's the Ducks and Stars in game 6! At Dallas, where the Stars have lost 7 of 9 playoff games. I want to see a game 7!

April 20 White Gloves and an Oversized Suit!!Well................. The funeral went well! Becky's Eulogy was PERFECT!!! The church was HUGE and Beautiful!! It was a Great service and I know that Aunt Jo would have been pleased!
We did NOT drop her!! , although it was close at one point! We were on a 45 degree road and had to carry her casket down another 45 degree patch of grass. Lots of Grunting and Moaning going on! Man!!! I don't want to do this again~~
I put on my Black Italian Suit and guess what?? I forgot I had lost 55lbs!!! About 5" too much in the pants!! And the suit coat???? Half of a ping-pong ball painted red and placed on my nose?????? Circus Clown!!! So I wore a sports coat that I haven't been able to fit into in Years!
I'm the idiot in the grey jacket!! DOOH! I didn't know any of these men and they really didn't want to talk to me!! So I just did my thing! What's with the guy in the shades???? DUDE!!!!

The service lasted 90 minutes! WAY too long! But Aunt Jo's Nieces and Nephews are REALLY long winded!! I'm talking.... Do NOT hand them a microphone! All in all?? It's over!! I'm sorry but Aunt Jo's family are freaks!! They went on and on about how close they were with her, but on every holiday she was with us and never knew they existed! She was OUR Aunt! Luckily, we will never see them again... Whatever!

April 18 Rant Time Again!!!Dammit!! Becky and I went to the viewing tonight and her Aunt looked Beautiful!! (Pics Later). We arrived at the viewing right on time and found her son and niece as the only ones there!! An hour later?? Still just the four of us!! WTH?? Finally my wife's cousin and his wife showed up , and some guy ffrom Norway! But that was it!! Becky's family?? The relatives from Nebraska and Arizona?? Guess they were 'BUSY'!!! Pisses me off!! Man!! Have I changed my attitude about certain 'family' members!!
But we met her niece Sandy and she is Great!! Apparently, during her last minutes, she could tell that Aunt Jo was dying! So she grabbed Jim, Jo's son, and dragged him to her side. He held her hand and said, "Mom? It's me, Jim". She took one last breath and passed away , with a smile on here face. Very sad, but she died at home with no pain. She would have been happy that Becky and I were there! I took pics but don't want to be morbid about it.

The Stars are leading the series 2 games to 1, BUT...... The Stars lost their best defender for at least this game and the Ducks got their leading scorer , Corey Perry, back! Finally!! If the Ducks can win tonight, they are back in the drivers seat, as the next game is back here in Anaheim!

I THINK I'm ready for this funeral. I have my best (only!) black suit cleaned and pressed and Becky bought me a new dress shirt. Still a little nervous but your comments have helped! Thank You!! That's what I meant about having the BEST friends!! To go along with the funeral, we have yet again, people staying with us this weekend. And you know what that means...... House cleaning! Although after going through that 4 times in the last 2 weeks, it is getting easier.
Back to my Hockey game!! Hang on! Stars thought they just scored but NO GOAL!! Player in the goal crease PLUS a goalie interference penalty against Dallas!! Wooo Hooo!! Bad call but I'll take it!

My Redneck (Hillbilly) neighbor has retired his paintball gun!! But has replaced it with a BB gun!! So now he is shooting birds which always happen to fall in my backyard. Bonnie, my little Cairn Terrier, has been having a field day!! I won't go into detail about what she does, but I need another talk with that guy!! Three birds in the last two days!! I'm thinking about throwing them back over the wall but 'Crazy Lady' will just blame either the Mexican 'wall runners' or her 'peeping' visitor!! Something is seriously wrong with these people!!!

My Ducks lost 3 to 1. Dallas' Goalie stood on his head to make saves!! He was excellent!! However, there is still hope! The next game is here..... tomorrow night, Dallas lost 3 of their best players tonight, the Ducks outshot and out penalty-played them and we physically beat the crap out of them!!! This series is NOT over!!

My wife's Aunt's viewing is Friday and the funeral is Saturday. I have been selected as a pallbearer!! I am honored but YIKES!! Me and 7 old men..... well, older than me!! What if we drop her?? Hopefully it will go well. You know how they have wedding rehearsals?? I think we need one of those!! Maybe Becky can take my place and I'll read her speech??? Naw....! But I AM happy to be selected!! Oh!! I just found out that I am the only one from our side of the family to be selected!! Holy Crap!! Why me???? I had better wear my good suit!! Now I'm REALLY nervous!!

My Ducks DID win last night, 4 to 2!! So they are still alive but they have to win on Thursday to actually get back into this thing! They did everything I told them to! LOL If only they would listen to ME, they would be so much better off! Look what happened to UCLA in the Final Four!! Just ignored my advice!

Watched a GREAT movie from Netflix tonight!! 'No Country for Old Men'!! It won four Oscars in 2008, including Best Picture! It was GREAT!! But I must warn you.... It is intense!! NOT for the weak of heart!! But, Becky and I loved it! The only weak part was the ending!! What was with that??? But it was really GOOD!! I gave it 4 1/2 Stars!! Maybe 5!

April 15 Tuesday Rant!!I don't rant much, especially here. I'm pretty mellow. But here goes!! Stand back and wear eye protection!!
Most of you have read my posts about my neighbor Charlotte (Crazy Lady!! The one with the Redneck son). Also, the one who thinks that Mexicans are walking her walls and camping in her backyard. ALSO! The same one who beleives that the WOMAN down the street is peeping in her windows at night!! Oh Yeah!! And that my gardeners and I planted shrubbery in her yard in the middle of the night, which she pulled out!! K!!!!!
Anyhow, several years ago she had her lawn resodded, and the aforementioned shrubbery planted, after her first attempt to grow 'Golf Green' grass failed miserably! (Picture the Gobi Desert after a nuclear test!!). So now her lawn looks great, minus the shrubbery.... But when she had it sodded, she refused to have her guys sod the smal 8' X 4' patch of lawn that we share because 2 feet of it is our piece of dirt!!
So when we had our yard sodded, we had our landscapers sod that small patch too, even though they could not install sprinklers there. We phoned her (too scary in person!!) and told her, and offered a deal! We would pay for the sodding and she or one of her multiple sons or grandsons would water it! She seemed thrilled!!
Almost a year later and they have yet to put a drop of water on that patch!! Except for her Redneck son who likes to spit alot! So guess who is doing it?? You got it!! She has a hose 10 feet away but it leaks so bad that I got soaked the one time I tried to use it. Plus, she is too cheap to buy a nozzle for it. So I drag my 75 foot hose out there every third day to water, plus I feed it and my gardeners mow it!
Oh GOD!! She is standing in my front yard peering in the window!! 911!! 911!! lol!
Well, the past few times I watered that patch she was either in a lawn chair in her open garage or sitting on the ground in her housecoat pulling weeds, but when she sees me dragging my hose out?? She is gone!!!
I have 4 solutions:
1. Talk to her Redneck son
2. Have him buy a new hose
3. Have him buy an actual nozzle
4. Have ONE of them get off their A$$ and turn the hose on!!
Am I wrong?? Rant over!! I feel better!

My Anaheim Ducks are playing in game 3 of the NHL playoffs tonight, in Dallas, and they had better win!! They only needs 4 things! Better goaltending, more offense, stay out of the penalty box and much better penalty killing. Is that too much to ask!! Maybe! Down 2 games to 0, they need to take it one game at a time!
Now as for the Lakers?? They are now #1 in the Western Conference and can clinch that by beating Sacramento tonight!!
That's all I have for tonight, I guess!! Nothing much going on here!! OH!! I bought a new electric shaver today AND new underwear!! LOL Good old WalMart!!

It was 20 degrees cooler today!! Heaven!!!!! And 10 more degrees cooler tomorrow! So I got out there and fed the lawns , watered my bonsai and got a few things taken care of. Burt was roaming around today so I fed him! He ate two large handfuls of lettuce and a whole Kiwi Fruit.... skin and all!! Damn!!

April 13 HOT..... And HOTTER!!!!UGH!!! Yesterday our area had the hottest temps in the country. It was 98F!! And today? 99! I just checked the thermostat thermometer and it read 85 in here. So we broke down and turned on the A/C. In April!! Even the dogs refuse to go outdoors. Tomorrow it's supposed to 'cool off' to 77 and by Tuesday, 64. So for all of you folks living with snow and cold weather, there may be some warmer weather heading your way!

We have tons of moroccan food here so we invited the son of our aunt who passed away, over for dinner tonight! He's pretty much an A$$ but he was SOOOO nice to her during her last weeks. He finally came through! So, Moroccan Chicken, Couscous, Cumin Potatoes, Cucumber Salad and sauteed Squash/Zucchini! Oh yeah... And Brownies for dessert!

Five people were injured, four critically, Saturday afternoon when a twin-engine aircraft crashed nose first into a Compton house and sliced into the one next door with one of its wings, authorities said.
The Cessna 310 crashed just before 4 p.m. in the 500 block of West Cypress Street, said Ian Gregor, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration. The craft came to rest with its tail sticking almost directly upward from the middle of one of the houses in a neighborhood of spacious, modern homes. The plane, which was registered in Nevada, was heading from San Diego to Hawthorne Municipal Airport, Gregor said. It was about a mile and a half away from Compton/Woodley Airport, a general aviation field, but he said it was unclear whether the pilot was trying to make an emergency landing. Compton Deputy Fire Chief Marcel Melanson said two of the injured were the plane's occupants and three were on the ground. He said some had already been pulled out of the house by the time firefighters arrived. All were taken to area hospitals. A neighbor, Kenneth Wyatt, 48, said he was sitting in his house watching TV when he heard an enormous thud. "It shook my house," he said. After running outside, he initially saw nothing. Then he saw the debris and smoke. "An airplane had come through the roof of my neighbor's home," he said, still incredulous. Wyatt said he saw a young woman -- the daughter of one of the house's renters -- at the window yelling for help. He and two other people tried to open the door of the badly damaged house but couldn't get it to budge. They helped the young woman out a window, and when she said her mother was inside, they clambered through the window themselves to search for her. "I saw the pilot, so we got him out," Wyatt said. Then he spotted one of the residents of the house moving under the rubble. Several people struggled to move that man out of the home through a sliding-glass door. "You could smell the fumes," said Wyatt, his jeans stained with the blood of the injured whom he helped. His own house was spared structural damage. But his backyard gazebo was ruined by debris from the aircraft, he said. "It's not the first time we've seen someone pulled out of a plane," said Wyatt, who has lived in Compton since childhood. April 12 The Best Laid Plans....Bummer!! I did NOT get to meet up with Cindy today. What with funeral arrangements and her sister having other plans made, it just didn't happen. So they are in San Diego today. It would have been fun but now we have all of this Moroccan-style marinated chicken (10lbs!!!)! So we kept a few pieces out and will freeze the rest. VERY disappointing but life is like that sometimes!!

The NHL Playoffs continue tonight for my Anaheim Ducks and they had best play MUCH better than they did against the Dallas Stars than they did on Thursday (4 to 0 Stars) , because it's on to Dallas on Tuesday!! Better penalty killing (they gave up FOUR power-play goals on Thursday), less actual penalties and a LOT more offense would be nice. They looked horrible on Thursday!!!

Opinion:
UCLA and their Basketball Coach, Ben Howland, have nothing to be ashamed of. A bigger team can sometimes defeat a quicker team, a quicker team can sometimes defeat a bigger team and a better shooting team can sometimes defeat a team that is both bigger and quicker.
However, when a team is bigger, quicker and better shooting, all you can say is 'sayonara' and hope to make it back to the Final Four next year.

When the Baltimore Orioles traded for outfielder Luke Scott, they figured they were adding an offensive weapon, but they probably didn't realize that weapon CAME with a weapon!
Scott recently revealed that he carries a concealed Glock pistol almost everywhere he goes.
"We live in an imperfect world," Scott said. "If you have money and fame, you're more of a target to the criminal element. There are people who steal, who murder people for what they have. That's the reality of life. If you're not prepared, it could cost you your life."
Scott, who batted .255 with the Houston Astros last season, entered Friday's game batting second in the American League with a .417 batting average.

So I asked them how much to weed and prune! Their answer was, "OH! We will do it a little at a time over the next 2 weeks! No extra charge!" ???????????????????????????????????????????????!!!! WHAT?????

April 11 YAY!!!One of my good Spaces friends, Cindy (http://mysnyte.spaces.live.com/) is visiting from British Columbia with her sister and daughter! The weather has been perfect and they have spent the past few days at Disneyland. Yes... another visiter!! But I love it! Tomorrow I will be picking them up at their motel and we will spend the day in Seal Beach. After that, back here for a Moroccan Chicken dinner!! It's always exciting to meet an online friend face to face!! What FUN!! I'll take pics.... as usual!! HAH!!
Becky wants me to RECLEAN the house, but really?? How dirty can it get in 2 days??? But as a good hubby, I will do the obligatory dusting and vacuuming.
Seal Beach is such a quaint little beach town!! We will walk the pier and have lunch!! Oh yeah!! And watch the surfers!! lol After 3 days at Disneyland, they need a break!! At least Momma (Cindy) does!! Should be fun..... for them AND me!
BTW...... I hope all of you realize that if you ever want to visit So Cal, Disneyland, our beaches..... you are ALWAYS welcome to visit us and I will be more than willing tyo help you! Just let me know. Get away from that snow!!! LOL

We just got word that our favorite Aunt just passed away!! I'm dying here!! She was such a special woman! Oh Man!! We just saw her at Easter and she looked BAD!! It was cancer! Mrs S will be saying something at the funeral and I will help her. She was very much into gardening and had an awesome yard!! For the past few years, I would drive to her house and water for her!! Her son Jim, is devasted!! And of course, Becky is now making the phone calls... She will be SOOOOO missed! When the tears stop flowing, I will be back...... Easter will never be the same without her! Crap!!! Later....!
