    April Fools Day Pranks!!

I've been wracking my brain all day to come up with a fun prank to post here for April Fool's Day, but I got nothin'!!   It's not easy to come up with something on your space without looking like an idiot!  And I know ALL about that!!  However I looked around and found these that you can try on your soon-to-be-ex friends!

    Cereal Box Switch
Remove the plastic bags from cereal boxes and switch them around. Your victim will scratch his head wondering why Cheerios came out of a box of Lucky Charms.

    Mail Box Prank
After the mail has already been delivered, fill the mail box with ping pong balls or packing nuts. Then ask someone else to go get the mail.

    Lottery Ticket Swap
This one takes some pre-planning. All you have to do is buy someone a lotto ticket today and tomorrow go out early and buy another ticket with the exact same numbers as the winning ticket from yesterday. When the victim of your prank isn't paying attention swap the newer ticket with the old one. When the person looks in the paper for the winning numbers, he or she won't even realize the date is wrong on the ticket and will believe it is the big winner.

    Bend Over Splits
Place a dollar bill on the floor and as people walk by and try to pick the dollar up, you stand nearby and tear a small piece of cloth. It will sound as if the victim of the prank actually split their pants and most of the time they will check their rear and leave in embarrasement.

    Push or Pull
Print out some signs that read, "Push" and "Pull" and tape them to doors at your local stores. Make sure to place them on the wrong side. Then sit back and watch as people push when they are instructed to pull and vise versa

    Shoe Polish Phone Prank
Coat the reciever of someone's phone with shoe polish and then give them a call. Instant gratification. Make sure you match the colors of the polish and the phone. Small amounts of shaving cream work too.

    Upside Down Cup
Fill a cup with water about half way. Then place an index card over the cup. Then turn the cup upside down on your co-worker's desk. Finally, carefully slide the index card out from underneath the cup. Whenever your co-worker decides to pick the cup up, he will be drenched in water.

    Bar Of Soap Lather Prank
Take some nail polish and coat a bar of soap with it. Let it dry. Then put it in the bathroom shower. When your victim tries to use it, he or she will go nuts trying to get it to lather up.

    Ypto Ypto...errr!!! TYPO!
Be carefull with this one, as to not ruin the keyboard. All you have to do is simply and very carefully remove a few keys and switch them around. If your victim is one of those "look up and down" typers. He or she will be very confused while trying to get work done.

    Confusing Drawers
Before your co-worker arrives at the office remove his desk drawers and switch them around. He will definantly scratch his head over this one. Hint: In case you cannot remove the drawers, just remove the items and swap them.

Have fun but play nice!!  Don't want anyone hurt....... especially YOU when your friend catches up to you!!

    More Brad Paisley!!   GREAT Guitar!!

    .................................................................................................................................................................

    WD-40!!  (Public Service Thingy!)

Yes, WD-40 - I thought that you might like to know more about this  well-known product.

When you read the "shower door" part, try it.  It's the first thing  that has cleaned that spotty shower door.  If yours is plastic, it works  just as well as glass.  It's a miracle!  Then try it on your stovetop...
    Viola!
It's now shinier than it's ever been.  You'll be amazed.

The product began from a search for a rust preventative solvent and degreaser to protect missile parts. WD-40 was created in 1953 by three technicians at the San Diego Rocket Chemical Company. Its name comes  from the project that was to find a "water displacement"  compound. They  were successful with the fortieth formulation, thus WD-40.

The Corvair Company bought it in bulk to protect their Atlas missile parts. The workers were so pleased with the product they began  smuggling (also known as "shrinkage" or "stealing") it out to use at home.

The executives decided there might be a consumer market for it and put  it in aerosol cans. The rest is history.

It is a carefully guarded recipe known only to four people. One of them  is the "brewmaster." There are about 2.5 million gallons of the stuff manufactured each year. It gets its distinctive smell from a fragrance that is added to the brew.

Ken East (one of the original founders) says there is nothing in WD-40 that would hurt you.

Here are some of the uses:
    ~Protects silver from tarnishing
    ~Cleans and lubricates guitar strings
~Gets oil spots off concrete driveways
~Gives floors that 'just-waxed' sheen without making it slippery
    ~Keeps flies off cows
    ~Restores and cleans chalkboards
    ~Removes lipstick stains
    ~Loosens stubborn zippers
    ~Untangles jewelry chains
~Removes stains from stainless steel sinks
~Removes dirt and grime from the barbecue grill
~Keeps ceramic/terra cotta garden pots from oxidizing
    ~Removes tomato stains from clothing
~Keeps glass shower doors free of water spots
~Camouflages scratches in ceramic and marble floors
    ~Keeps scissors working smoothly
~Lubricates noisy door hinges on vehicles and doors in homes
~Gives a children's play gym slide a shine for a super fast slide
~Lubricates gear shift and mower deck lever for ease of handling on  riding   mowers
~Rids rocking chairs and swings of squeaky noises
~Lubricates tracks in sticking home windows and makes them easier to  open
~Spraying an umbrella stem makes it easier to open and close
~Restores and cleans padded leather dashboards and vinyl bumpers
~Restores and cleans roof racks on vehicles
~Lubricates and stops squeaks in electric fans
~Lubricates wheel sprockets on tricycles, wagons and bicycles for easy   handling
~Lubricates fan belts on washers and dryers and keeps them running   smoothly
~Keeps rust from forming on saws and saw blades, and other tools
    ~Removes splattered grease on stove
    ~Keeps bathroom mirror from fogging
    ~Lubricates prosthetic limbs
~Keeps pigeons off the balcony (they hate the smell)
~Removes all traces of duct tape
~I have even heard of folks spraying it on their arms, hands, and knees  to   relieve arthritis pain.
~Florida's favorite use was "cleans and removes love bugs from grills and bumpers
~The favorite use in the state of New York -- WD-40 protects the Statue of Liberty from the elements.
~WD-40 attracts fish. Spray a LITTLE on live bait or lures and you will be catching the big one in no time.

It's a lot cheaper than the chemical attractants that are made for just
that purpose. Keep in mind though, using some chemical laced baits or
lures for fishing are not allowed in some states.

~Use it for fire ant bites. It takes the sting away immediately, and stops the itch.
~WD-40 is great for removing crayon from walls. Spray on the mark and wipe with a clean rag.
~Also, if you've discovered that your teenage daughter has washed and  dried a tube of lipstick with a load of laundry, saturate the lipstick  spots with WD-40 and rewash. Presto! Lipstick is gone!
~If you sprayed WD-40 on the distributor cap, it would displace the  moisture and allow the car to start.
~WD-40, long known for its ability to remove leftover tape mung (sticky label tape), is also a lovely perfume and air freshener! Sprayed liberally on every hinge in the house, it leaves that distinctive clean fresh scent for up to two days!

~Seriously though, it removes black scuff marks from the kitchen floor!  Use WD-40 for those nasty tar and scuff marks on flooring. It doesn't  seem to harm the finish and you won't have to scrub nearly as hard to get them off. Just remember to open some windows if you have a lot of marks.

~Bug guts will eat away the finish on your car if not removed quickly!
    Use  WD-40!

I hope you all have a GREAT weekend!!

OK!!  Happy Birthday Reba....... But I have bigger fish to fry!!   Especially after a few of the reactions!!  So I'm falling back on Sawyer Brown!!   Well wait!!  Not physically!!  LOL!!  Darn!!  But this is a great song!  Sorry Reba!!

    March 27

    Of Dachshunds and Firewalls....

My friend Jane blogged today about her horrible day.  Then she asked how everyone else's day was.  How was my day?  How was MY DAY????   Well up until that point it was ok, even after talking on the phone for 90 minutes with Verizon about my FIL's DSL!   But........ our little miniature Dachshund, Baxter, has been yelping off and on for the past 4 days.  He eats normally, can jump on and off the bed, no vomiting, stool is good (TOO good!), so except for the 'yelping' he seems normal.  But Mrs S insisted that I drag his butt to see the vet!  This is always a truly difficult experience.... and he is the EASY one!  At least he fits in a carrier.  So we get there.  I let him out of the carrier.  As I'm explaining to the nurse (?) about his 'problem', Baxter is tearing around the place, jumping on and off of the chairs, chasing the receptionist around and running into the billing office to terrorize them!  The nurse is looking at me like I'm crazy!!   Then, the ultimate disgrace!!!  He takes a HUGE dump in the middle of the waiting room!  PEEEE YEWWWW!!!!

So we finally see the vet.  I tell him the story and apologize for the 'dump', and of course, Baxter won't yelp no matter where he touches him.  So I am home now for an hour while Baxter has X-Rays and a blood test!!  Great!!

I'm back from the vet for the second time today.  The X-Rays were negative, the blood test results come tomorrow.  He was prescribed anti-inflammatories and given a muscle-relaxer shot!!  He is OUT!!  The good news??  Baxter yelped for times while there!  The bad news???  The bill was $453.02!!!!    That's right!  .02!!  I was also told to keep Bonnie away from him!!  She is such a roughneck!

    ................................................................................................................................................................

Now, I assume (HOPE!!!) that you all have a Firewall installed on your computer.  VERY important!  Keeps out Hackers, scans for viruses, and most guard against Malware and Adware.  I use ZoneAlarm which is a really good one, as is Norton.  But they cost around $40 a year.  But PC Magazine and PC World have recently written that 'Comodo Pro 3.0' is the best FREE firewall available!!  Better than 'Blue Ice'!  You can register, download and install it at www.comodo.com.  They claim that they will NEVER charge for it or for the updates, EVER!!  So if you don't have a firewall or can't afford one, check this site out!!  And if you want to read a review, go to www.go.pcmag.com/comodopro3.  Like I said, if you don't have one, PLEASE get one!!

Phil Vaser tonight!!  Great voice, Great song!!

That's all I got!   How was YOUR day?????

    March 26

    Uh Oh!! Sports Post!!

This is from the L.A.Times in a column titled, 'Text Messages From Press Row', by a guy named Jerry Crowe.  It's kind of a hodge-podge of his observations.  I thought this one was Blog-Worthy!!

Kevin Love and the UCLA basketball team, already honoring the school's 100 NCAA championships with that unsightly yellow C (Roman numeral for 100) on their jerseys, might soon have another century mark to celebrate. . . .

Running the table to their 12th national title would give the Bruins 100 NCAA tournament victories, matching Kentucky's record. . . .

Nearly half of UCLA's 96 victories came under the direction of JohnWooden, whose 47 wins rank the former coach third on the all-time list, tied with Roy Williams and trailing only Dean Smith and all-time leader Mike Krzyzewski. . . .

It has been 54 years since USC made its only appearance in the Final Four and, one demoralizing drought paralleling another, the same number of years since UCLA won its only national championship in football. . . .

After Syracuse Coach Jim Boeheim said the play of its guards would be Stanford's undoing against Marquette on Saturday, junior Mitch Johnson played more like MagicJohnson and had nine points, a career-high 16 assists and only one turnover in the Cardinal's second-round victory. . . .

Magic Johnson's career high at Michigan State was 14 assists. . . .

The NCAA tournament record is 18, set by former Wilmington Banning High jitterbug Mark Wade of Nevada Las Vegas against Indiana in 1987. . . .

Wade, known as "The Disher" when he played for Jerry Tarkanian, unfortunately was in the news again this month after pleading guilty to embezzling more than $15,000 in his former job as an assistant coach at UC Riverside. . . .

Manny Ramirez pocketed 1 million yen ($10,000) after slamming two two-run doubles and being selected hero of the game Tuesday in the Boston Red Sox's season-opening victory over the Oakland Athletics at Tokyo. . . .

Said the slugger, hinting that perhaps even multimillionaires are feeling the sting of inflation, "That's going to be some gas money. I love it." . . .

If Kobe Bryant had opted for surgery on his right pinkie last month, he would still be a few days away from returning to the lineup after sitting out for nearly six weeks, and the Lakers probably would be out of the playoff picture. . . .

With him, they might wind up seeded No. 1 in the West. . . .

Wilt Chamberlain's image deserves depiction on a commemorative U.S. postage stamp, an honor that would put the late Lakers center in the company of other sports luminaries such as Jesse Owens, Babe Ruth, Babe Zaharias and Jackie Robinson, writes Donald Hunt of the Philadelphia Tribune. . . .

You have to wonder what Bill Russell thinks of the idea. . . .

It's hard to believe that, before Lamar Odom did it this week, no Laker had pulled down 20 rebounds in consecutive games since Vlade Divac in 1995. . . .

Shaquille O'Neal had 18 games of 20 or more rebounds during his eight seasons with the Lakers, according to Stats LLC, but never two in a row. . . .

That may have required more diesel than Shaq was willing to expend. . . .

After watching wind wreak havoc with matches in the Pacific Life Open at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden last week, imagine how the breezy conditions might alter O'Neal's free throws or Steve Nash's jump shots when the Phoenix Suns play an outdoor exhibition there Oct. 11 against the Denver Nuggets. . . .

Says popular but still winless driver Danica Patrick, asked whether this could be the year she finally picks up victory No. 1, "I'm flattered that I still get asked that question because that means that everyone still believes it's out there." . . .

    Say what? . . .

So much for the laughable notion that Tiger Woods might go unbeaten. . . .

Is it really necessary for baseball's players union to launch an investigation into why no team has signed soon-to-be 44-year-old Barry Bonds? . . .

    Two words: Excess baggage. . . .

Prince Fielder of the Milwaukee Brewers, a 270-pounder who last year became the youngest player in major league history to hit 50 home runs in a season, says he stopped eating meat over the winter after reading a book his wife left on the kitchen counter, "Skinny Bitch: A No-Nonsense, Tough-Love Guide for Savvy Girls Who Want to Stop Eating Crap and Start Looking Fabulous." . . .

The 23-year-old vegetarian says the title caught his eye. . . .

    No kidding.

Sorry..  I guess that was lame unless you live in L.A., but hey!!  I was entertained!!  LOL!  (Wilt on a postage stamp??)

    .................................................................................................................................................................

The status of my neighbor has changed from redneck to hillbilly today!  Is that worse??  Any how he brought out his paintball gun and took target practice in his 50' x 50' backyard!!  Holy Crap!!  Of course it drives my dogs crazy, but the last time he pulled it out, an errant shot landed on the 350Z!!  Who do I call???  He's a cop!!  FBI!!  LOL!!   But luckily, he gets bored easily.

    ................................................................................................................................................................

New song!  Anyone remember the Bellamy Brothers??  This is NOT (is...) me!!  LOL!  But I love this song!!  (Don't I seem to like all of them??)  OK.....  It's ME!!  20 years ago!  Except my garden??   Not veggies!!  lol!  Anyhow, I hope you like this song!   Not sure who the Steel Guitar player is but he's awesome!!  The Vietnam part really hit home!!  I left here as an 18 year boy and returned as a 22 year old man!  Great senior trip!!   Here's your gun, go get 'em!   I  learned to grow up fast!!!

    Enough about that crap!

    ................................................................................................................................................................

My favorite sport is Baseball, but this time of year?  No... NOT College Basketball (Minor League NBA????), But the NHL Hockey Playoffs!!  Watched the Anaheim Ducks (Stanley Cup Champs!) play the L.A Kings tonight!!  The Duck's All-Star Goalie ( Jean-Sebastien Giguere , We call him 'Giggy) has been hurt.. so the Ducks called up a young kid from Switzerland!!  Jonas Hiller!!   What a great kid and a great goalie!!  What a GREAT game!!  Ducks won 2 to 1 in a shootout!  I LOVE Hockey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But, then there's baseball and my Phillies!!   Dang!!

Too much sports!!  I'm Gone!!   Later!

    John Berry - By Request

I received a request today for a John Berry song, so I chose this one.  He has/had one of the most beautiful voices.  And this song is awesome.  Unfortunately, he developed lesions in his throat and the surgery ended his career in 2004 ....... I think!

So this song is for my friend Giggles!

    Here is a short Bio:

John was born in Aiken, South Carolina, to James and Marie Berry, and raised in the Atlanta, Georgia area. His father listened to concert pianist Van Cliburn, his mother had a strong taste for gospel, and his brother became an opera singer. John gravitated to both soul and country music and began recording his own albums at home in 1979. Two years later, John started performing solo acoustic shows in northeast Georgia, then expanded around the southeast, building a strong name and following. He eventually made six self-produced albums, with the last one selling over 10,000 copies. He was finally signed to Liberty Records/Capitol Records in 1992.

Berry has contributed to children's charities, and lent his name to such causes as adult literacy and Cystic Fibrosis.

John has been actively recording his own albums with his new independent label, Clear Sky Records. His album Songs and Stories was released in May 2002, and has sold over 25,000 copies at shows, online, and through his Fan Club. For the 2003 holiday season, he re-released his live Christmas CD, O Holy Night Live (formerly titled Christmas Live).

    ................................................................................................................................................................

Speaking of music, we have a Country music station here that plays old and new songs.  It seems as if every time I get in my car, they are either playing a really good new song or an old one that I forgot about.  So I spent the afternoon (productively??  lol) downloading music!!   Some good ones coming up!!

    ................................................................................................................................................................

Today, the temps here were 20 degrees cooler and tomorrow, another 10!!  A little more like Spring.  Another storm moving down the coast but as usual, it will stop just short of us.  Then it will move east and get all of you!!  LOL!

    ................................................................................................................................................................

Road trip tomorrow.  Have to drive to the FIL's house to try to fix his Verizon DSL!  I'm thinking I will have to uninstall it and then reinstall it!!  The one at the cabin works perfectly!  Hmmmm....!  If that doesn't work,  will insist that Verizon send someone out.  He has been on Dial-Up for years and I was hoping DSL would speed things up for him...... but so far it's been worse!   The other problem could be....  a 6 year old computer.  I keep telling to delete his 'Temp Files', run his 'Anti-Adware' program, quit stopping the 'Zone Alarm' scan, but I guess that is my job!  An occasional 'De-Frag' might be nice too!   Oh well...   Maybe I'll get lunch out of it!!

I'll be here tomorrow afternoon!  Nite!

PS!!  Changed my mind.....  Yet Again!!  sorry.....  Tim Mc Graw week!!  OK??  Good!  Starting tomorrow!!

BTW!!  I have officially lost 50lbs since November!!!!  It's the 'No teeth, No eat diet'!!  LOL  Now, to keep it off!

    March 24

    King of Queens!

LMAO!!   I love watching this show!!  And I'm talking the reruns!!   It's my daily hysterical laugh!!  The last one had me on the floor,  but I've been there alot lately!!  Mainly from reading your posts and comments!  Oooh!!  Another episode!!

    ...................................................................................................................................................................

Today was a typical Monday.  After the weekend it's always dishes, laundry, take out the trash for tomorrow, grocery shopping, vacuum the floors...... yadda, yadda, yadda.

    WHAT??? No way!!

My gardeners returned today to mow the front yard!  You remember them??  Well, today was the day for them to remove that termite infested stump!!  It looked impossible!  But they used 2 small shovels and an axe!!  Got it out in 15 Minutes!!  Then they covered up the hole and added gravel!  Oh yeah!!  They got rid of my 'Science Experiment' weeds too!!  Total cost??  $25!!!!

Then I pushed my luck and asked them how much to mow the front yard every week and the back every 2 weeks!!   He said $20 dollars extra per month!!  What?????  Woooo Hoooo!!  And we have huge yards!!  So $80 a month for mowing, trimming, weeding, feeding, edging, cleaning up  for an extra $20 a week?????  I'm IN!!

    Before!
    Stump 001

    After!

    .........................................................................................................................................

Know what??  A hammock is a VERY good thing!!  Took a short nap (despite what Mrs S says, I'm allowed!), Then came in and called Mom And Dad in New Jersey!!  It's my Momma's birthday on Easter weekend and I sent her 2 dozen roses!!  I REALLY need to visit!  They are 86 years old, still very much in love and also very active...  Ummm  as in doing their own yardwork!  I think I inherited VERY good genes!!

I try to tell them about all of you, my friends, but they just don't understand!!  "The WEB??  Internet?  Spaces???  What????"  LOL!!  Too funny!!  But I understand....!  My Dad's computer is a Commodore 64!!  YIKES!!  NO idea what he does with it but I'll bet it does NOT involve being 'online'!  HAH!!  I have tried to 'upgrade' them but it's like trying to nail jello to a tree!!  But, as long as they are happy...

Hope you all have a GREAT Easter!!  And tonight?  My favorite Jimmy Buffet song!

    ...And They Crucified HIM!!

I have posted this every Easter for the past five years, either here or as an email.  It is painful to read so if you don't want to, it's OK!  This is a description of a crucifixtion made by a medical doctor.  I thought about skipping it this year, but I think it's important to read as a reminder.
    ................................................................................................................................................................

The cross is placed on the ground and the exhausted man is quickly
thrown backwards with his shoulders against the wood. The legionnaire
feels for the depression at the front of the wrist. He drives a heavy,
square wrought-iron nail through the wrist deep into the wood. Quickly
he moves to the other side and repeats the action, being careful not to
pull the arms too tightly, but to allow some flex and movement. The
cross is then lifted into place. The left foot is pressed backward
against the right foot, and with both feet extended, toes down, a nail
is driven through the arch of each, leaving the knees flexed. The victim
    is now crucified.

As he slowly sags down with more weight on the nails in the wrists,
excruciating fiery pain shoots along the fingers and up the arms to
explode in the brain -- the nails in the wrists are putting pressure on
the median nerves. As he pushes himself upward to avoid this stretching
torment, he places the full weight on the nail through his feet. Again
he feels the searing agony of the nail tearing through the nerves
between the bones of his feet.

As the arms fatigue, cramps sweep through his muscles, knotting them
deep relentless, and throbbing pain. With these cramps comes the
inability to push himself upward to breathe. Air can be drawn into the
lungs but not exhaled. He fights to raise himself in order to get even
    one small breath.

Finally, carbon dioxide builds up in the lungs and in the blood stream,
and the cramps partially subsided. Spasmodically, he is able to push
himself upward to exhale and bring in life-giving oxygen.

Hours of limitless pain, cycles of twisting, joint-renting cramps,
intermittent partial asphyxiation, searing pain as tissue is torn from
his lacerated back as he moves up and down against rough timber. Then
another agony begins: a deep, crushing pain deep in the chest as the
pericardium slowly fills with serum and begins to compress the heart.

It is now almost over. The loss of tissue fluids has reached a critical
level. The compressed heart is struggling to pump heavy, thick, sluggish
blood into the tissues. The tortured lungs are making frantic effort to
gasp in small gulps of air. He can feel the chill of death creeping
    through his tissues.

Finally, he allows his body to die.

All this the Bible records with the simple words,
"and they crucified Him" (Mark 15:24)

Sorry.... I am NOT a 'Bible Beater', ( I am a Baptist..  and YES!!  I was baptised in a lake)  but I do beleive that Jesus was/is the son of God.... And that he died on that cross so that we could be saved from our sins!  But everyone has their own beliefs.....  or none at all.  Just so you know where I stand!

Spaces, as usual, would NOT accept my last two Brad songs!!  Soooo.....  My favs, and not in any particular order!!   This might be #1 !!!!!   Not very Eastery  ( is that a word??), but I love it!!  This song just KILLs me!!

    March 20

    NCAA Basketball Tourney!!

I am NOT a big college basketball fan....  until March!  Watching first round games today and they have been good ones!  Just watched Xavier beat Georgia 73 to 61 and then my team, Temple lose to Michigan State  72 to 61.  WAAAAHH!!   Kansas barely got by Portland State , 65 to 61!  Right now I'm watching Marquette beating Kentucky, but it's close!  My REAL team is UCLA!  Kevin Love is awesome, and I hope they at least make it to the Final Four!

    ..................................................................................................................................................................

Brad Paisley week continues for another 2 days.  After that I plan on playing my Top 10 favorite songs (at least!)!  OK!!  All of my favorites!  Who am I kidding?   Most, of course, will be Country, but not all.  I'm just gonna keep them going!  I have lots.  Wait!!  What am I thinking?  I always play my favorites!!

    OWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!

My right foot (Charcot Foot, you can Google it!) has been killing me today so I'm taking Codeine.  If any of you talk to me on Messenger, expect the worst!   I did find out that there is a surgical procedure to correct it, but Oh Man!!  The surgeon breaks the foot in 5 or 6 places, resets the bones, and then you (I!) have to wear a steel  brace for 6 months to a year!!  Ummm.....  I think I'll keep up the 'electrical' therapy for now.  Here is what I use:  http://www.rebuildermedical.com/index.php.  It DOES really help but lately I have been slacking off on using it.  Beleive me..... I will be using it today!!  Needless to say, I didn't get alot of work done today... however I did manage to water my bonsai and a few other of my plants.

Well, the Codeine is kicking in so I think it's nap time!!  But, I'll be back to finish this mess!

    ................................................................................................................................................................

Oh yeah!!  The nap did wonders!

New Brad Paisley tonight!  It's a duet with Allison Krause, who has one of the sweetest voices ever!  Sad, but a beautiful song.  If you get the chance, watch the video.

I would add more here but I'm afraid I'd make less sense then usual...... which is not much!!

OK!  I had a request to change songs!!   No Name!!!  But I hope this one works for her !!!!

BTW!! Brad Paisley is playing lead guitar!!!!

    The Best Blog EVER???

    No... not mine!

I was poking around in Blogger a few months ago and came across this site: http://www.mom2my6pack.blogspot.com/  You have GOT to check it out!!  Funny as heck and very well written!  Also, don't forget to read her archives!

    ...................................................................................................................................................................

Sounds as if everyone enjoyed their corned beef and cabbage!!  I love that stuff and make it about 5 times a year.  I have been working on perfecting my recipe for about 15 years, so I thought I would share.

First off, forget the crock pot.  Get yourself a large ( 6.5 quart) Dutch oven.  Le Creuset makes nice ones that will last a lifetime.  Now rather than  simmering, I have found that braising works the best.

So, this should serve 6 easily:

1 4lb flat cut corned beef brisket (rinsed, and be sure to save that little spice packet!)

2lbs of baby red potatoes (do not peel!)

2 bunches of baby carrots ( the ones with the green tops still on, but cut them off before cooking.  I like to leave about 1/2" of green)

2 medium turnips, peeled and cut into 1" chunks

    2 heads of cabbage

    2 bay leaves

    a handfull of black peppercorns

I sometimes add a diced onion but that's optional

2 12OZ bottles of Guiness Stout

    About 8 cups of water

After rinsing the brisket, place it the Dutch oven along with the water, Guiness, Bay Leaf, Peppercorns and the contents of the spice packet.

Set your oven to 275F - 300 and on your stovetop, bring the water and brisket to a boil.  Simmer while you skim off the scum and then cover and place in the oven for 3 hours, 45 minutes.

After that, remove the brisket and place it fat side UP in a 13" baking dish and cover with foil to keep warm.  Leave the oven on.  Place the Dutch oven back on the stovetop and add the potatoes. after 5 minutes, add the turnips, and then the carrots.  They should only take 20 minutes or so, so keep checking.  A medium/low boil is perfect.  Do NOT add the cabbage!!  No one likes mushy, grey, slimey cabbage!

As the veggies are cooking, and this is the BEST part!!!!!!!, take the foil off of the brisket.  Spread regular, old French's yellow mustard thickly all over the top.  (Remember.... fat side up!).  Then mix 1 cup of Golden Brown Suger with 1 tsp of ground cloves and cover the mustard with the mixture.  You may need more, but it should be about 1/4" thick.

Place the brisket, uncovered, back in the oven @300 while you cook the cabbage.  Just cut each head into 6 wedges and sit them on top of the veggies.  (Maybe in 2 batches!)  Cover and cook them for no longer than 15 minutes, at the most!  They will be nice and green!!  And tender-crunchy!!

Pull the brisket out and let it sit for 5 minutes while the cabbage finishes and then slice across the grain.

I like to place the veggies on a large serving platter and then put the corned beef slices on top and ladle some of the cooking juice on top.

     My favorite accompaniments:

    Good Mustards
    Cream Style Horseradish sauce
    Crusty bread
    Fruit salad
    Green beer!!  LOL

This year's was the BEST!  I have affidavits!!  LOL!

    Happy Saint Pat's Day!!

But since we had our corned beef and cabbage last night, we were looking for a fun place to celebrate tonight.  So we went to a new Japanese restaurant/bar during Happy Hour and had a Blast!!  It's name is Kubuki.  The three of us sat at the bar, met some new people and ate our minds out!  Saki shots were $.99 and all of the appetizers were only $4.50!!  I had broiled Mussels, Edamame (free!!) and Sashimi.... And they each had Teryaki Chicken and veggie Tempura.  And for dessert??  Coconut ice cream!!  YUMMY!!  And we got out of there for under $40.00!!  I wish I had brought my camera because the place is beautiful!!  Next time....... which will be soon!   Just too bad they didn't serve green Saki!!!

    ...................................................................................................................................................................

I have decided to go ahead and make this Brad Paisley Week!   I hope you enjoy it!!  The one playing tonight is his latest.  Mrs S and the niece went to Disneyland today and it was so crowded that one of the workers told them not to waste their money, and come back another day, which I thought was pretty cool!!  Spring break or some crap!  Plus, it's 'blackout week' so yearly passes can't be used!!!  WTH???   So they went to Seal Beach which has 3 bars, ALL Irish!!, and watched the drunks stumble around!!  The town blocks off the side streets and paints the lines in the road GREEN!!!!  Crazy!!

    ................................................................................................................................................................

If Mrs S doesn't post those pics of the dogs in their outfits tonight, I will tomorrow!!

Today was a GREAT day at the Serious household!!  Exciting NASCAR race, wonderful food  and great friends to share the day with!  We did have a weird little storm move through..... and I mean REALLY weird!!  High winds, hail, funnel clouds, but it moved through quickly!!  It came from the East!!  That NEVER happens here!!  All of our storms come off of the ocean!  The last time this happened, we had golf ball sized hasil!!  But now??  Clear and a bit chilly.  I hope that your weekend was nice!

    March 15

    Crazy, Scary Weather!

I just happened to tune in to the Weather Channel and could NOT beleive what I was seeing!!  Two tornados hit downtown Atlanta last night with more predicted for the rest of the weekend.  Along with the baseball sized hail, the downtown area looked devastated!  I know that the South needed rain but this is ridiculous!!  Last I looked, there were at least 6 severe storms lined up and moving towards the downtown area.

As for our weather here in Southern California,  it was 75F yesterday, 60 today , and we are expecting rain, thunderstorms and sleet tonight!!  SLEET?????  Plus we are under a high surf warning (waves up to 20 feet!) and a high wind advisory with gusts up to 60mph!!   What the heck happened to my Spring??  (Stupid groundhog!!)

    SLEET??????????????

    ...................................................................................................................................................................

Mrs S is picking up our niece at the airport and I'm pretty sure we are going out tonight to our favorite Mexican place for dinner!!  Their Tacos and Chili Rellanos are to kill for!!  Oh, and this is NOT the niece who trashed the cabin!!  I might ask her to add to this post later, so if you read this early, please come back and say HI to her!!  She is a school teacher and very sweet!

    ................................................................................................................................................................

Apparently Mrs S has decided to give our dogs nicknames!!

    Bonnie7

    Bonnie is now "Peaches"

    MVC-010S

    Buzz is now "Whitey" ????

I think I might be a REALLY bad Daddy to my dogs!!  You see, I love to tease!!!!  First of all, they HATE the mail person!!  Our mail is delivered through a slot that dumps it into a basket in our garage.  It has a metal door on it and when they hear it close??  They go crazy!!  So what do I do every freaking day??   I open and close that door!!!  At least 5 times!!!  HAHAHA!!   So......  Am I bad?  Call me Pavolv!!

    ................................................................................................................................................................

Oh Crap!!  Mrs S and my niece just came back from Target with new 'outfits' for the dogs!!   Now who is cruel??   Bonnie's is atually a 'bikini'!!!  But it's too tight so she can only walk sideways!!  HAHAHA!!  Mrs S bought a size or two too small, so I'll post pics tomorrow.  You will DIE when you see these rigs!!!!  So who is the cruelest???  LOL

I'm watching a DVD titled "Wrong Turn".  The movie is a meeting of 'Deliverance' and 'License to Drive'!   So if you are at all squeemish  about hitch-hiking through West Virginia............ Or having inbred people use you for bait??   I would just shy away from THIS one!!

Hello everyone, I'm Katie, Bobs niece! He just wanted me to get on here and say a few things.  I am super excited to be out here in California visiting the world's best aunt and uncle.  Today, we went to Target and bought outfits for all three of the pups.  They were so cute but a few were too tight and will have to be returned for bigger sizes... haha  I hope they don't get a complex.  Tomorrow the plan is to go to the swapmeet if the weather permits.  I love to shop there, there are so many deals!  Later this week I hope to make it to Disneyland... I know its spring break so it will be a zoo.  Cross your fingers that we make it!  As for now, its off to bed... enjoy your nights

That was my Sweet niece~~   Isn't she nice??

Nothing else much going on here.  The weather is beautiful although we have showers due tomorrow.  Our niece Katey is coming here tomorrow.  Last time she was here she talked Mrs S into paying $40,000 for the 350Z which she never drives!!  But I DO!!  hehehe!  She is a vegan so there goes any chance of me getting a steak this weekend.  However, on Sunday we are celebrating St. Patrick's day and I will be braising my famous corner beef, cabbage, tiny red potatoes and baby carrots!!  She can eat the veggies!!!  Braising is really the best way to go!

    ................................................................................................................................................................

Another Toby Keith song tonight!  Sorry MizAngie!!  But I know that a few of you like it!  I received a comment today from Debbie.  Apparently she reads my blog but has never commented!!  I love that she did!  I've been getting that alot lately.

    ................................................................................................................................................................

One last thing.....  The dogs were barking like crazy today at someone in my front yard, so I had to check it out!!  There was 'Crazy Lady' on here knees in my driveway running her hands through my lawn!!!!  LOL!!  WTH????    So I threw some pork rinds in HER yard and she left.  However, her redneck son got to them first!!  Sheesh!!!

    Have a Great weekend Y'all!!

    Burt.... and Other Stuff!

Crap!!  Our electrician called today and he was all ready to come out and solve our mysterious problem.  Thing is, the problem has seemingly fixed itself!!  So I have him 'on call'.  So far, so good!  As some of you may remember, we paid $2,300 to have all of our circuit breakers, including the main two, replaced a month ago!  When the power goes out to that one-half of the bedroom, none of them are tripped!!  GRRRRR!!!   I still say......Ghosts!!

    ...................................................................................................................................................................

No sign of my redneck, pork rind eating, donut devouring, neighbor cop today.  And now I need to buy more pork rinds!!   But I'm sure I'll see him lurking about soon.  His mom, a.k.a. 'Crazy Lady, doesn't like him smoking so he stands in front of our house and smokes there.  Oh yeah..... and flips his ciggy butts on my lawn!!  JERK!!  One of these days..... Bang, Zoom!!

     March Madness, Part II

Cal State San Bernardino (Calif!) is sending it's women's basketball team to the NCAA Division II tournament this week, and the Coyotes appear to be an entertaining group to watch, at least judging by how some team members answered the "most embarassing moment" question in the media guide.

Mindy Baker:  "I fell down during warm ups as a freshman."

Leslie Pickron:  "I double-dribbled with NO defender around."

Diane Redfox:  "Running into a wall and breaking my foot."

Koi Brown:  "My shorts were too big and fell down while I was taking a shot at the freethrow line."

The Coyotes have apparently honed their game a bit since.  LOL

    ................................................................................................................................................................

Now, Burt!!   He was out today , eating grass  (but I did give him a peach right after these pics were taken).
    Isn't he handsome???

    Burt 001

And check out his smile!!  Smile, Dammit!!!!

    Burt 002

Then I laid my glasses down next to him so you could see how big he is!!  And of course, Bonnie had to squeeze into the shot.

    March Madness

Spring is in the air.  You can tell because ESPN's talking heads are overusing terms such as "March Madness,""Big Dance" and "Bubble Teams," as well as making up a few ..... "Bracketology??"  But in case you weren't sure what's coming, here are 5 ways to tell that NCAA Basketball Tournament time is upon us:

    1.  The copier at work is out of toner.

    2.  Universities you have never seen, or heard of, are popping up on ESPN  (Elon University..... ELON?).

    3.  Dick Vitale's latest rant hits a pitch only dogs can hear.

    4.  Billy Packer is denying the Louisiana Purchase (there is no one west of the Mississippi).

    5.  Mountain West Conference fans are pondering the question that has puzzled NHL fans for more than two years:  What the heck is "Versus" and why is our game on it?

So now you know..... you're welcome!  LOL

    ................................................................................................................................................................

The Toby Keith playing tonight is his newest.  I first heard it a month ago and was FINALLY able to download and post it.  Hope you enjoy it!   I plan on continuing TK week through the weekend.  Then I'm working on a week of my favorite female artists.  I really hope you listen to this song!!  If you want to know who I really am??  This is ME!

    ................................................................................................................................................................

More electrical problems here, but this one really has me stumped.  For the past 3 days, half of the power in our bedroom goes out at around 8:00 pm and the returns around noon?!?!?!  I have checked the circuit breakers and all of them are set.  Maybe we have a ghost?????   Anywho, our new electrician is coming tomorrow.  Just weird!!

    ................................................................................................................................................................

And speaking of weird.....  I'm still trying to corner my redneck neighbor so I can get a photo.  I thought of leaving a trail of fried pork rinds leading to my door.  Oh, and by the way??  He's a COP!!  So maybe a trail of donuts??   Also weird??  I'm watching a program on Nation Geographic of people getting their faces tatooed!!  OOWWEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!  These people live among us!!!

    ................................................................................................................................................................

I was going to post a few photos of Burt but as usual, he has learned how to avoid the Paparazzi!!  He's such a Superstar!!  LOL   So here are pics of Bonnie and Baxter
