Whew!!  I made it through another one!!  We are laying low tonight, but Becky is making a Great dinner!  Pulled-Pork BBQ sandwiches, slow cooked in the crock pot and served on onion rolls... Red cabbage cole slaw and Roasted Potato Salad made with fingerling potatoes, red onion, garlic, capers, bacon and mayonaise!!  Tomorrow I'm making Buffalo Wings!!  The potato salad looks GOOD!!

Well, it had to happen!  I have had strangers coming to my door asking for the phone number of my gardener. I talked to him today and jokingly reminded him that I had referred 9 jobs to him and thought that he should not charge me anymore. LOL!!  Amazingly, he said OK!!  WOOOOO!!!  We shall see....  Here is what my lawn looks like now...  Not bad for December 31st, huh?  They do such a great job and wore red Santa hats today!

Tomorrow is the Rose Bowl parade and game.  I love the marching bands!!  As for the game, I am torn.  Being from the East coast I like Penn State but living here, I also like USC!!  I guess all I can hope for is a good game.

I just watched a program about monster spiders!! (shiver!!).  They showed a tarantula that was 6 feet across from leg to leg and was eating rabbits, cats and deer!!  Now they are showing giant squid about 100 feet long that eat humans!!  YIKES!!  Why do I watch this??  Becky refuses to watch! LOL!!!!

I call them 'Storm Watchers!!  They need some women there!!  Nancy, Mary and Susie are NOT cutting it!!  Oh wait!!  Sean, Josh and John!  My favorite quote!! "We're running away and proud of it!!"  WTH???  My second favorite quote.... " There's a tornado to the East, so let's go West!!"  LOL!  I might not want to chase storms but at least I have a 'pair'!!  A lot of back slapping but no results!  Pathetic!!!  I'm done with this program!!

Lots of activity on my street today!!  Tree trimmers trimming, gardeners mowing and carpet installers.....  well, installing!!  So there I was with my camera!!  And of course, they posed for me!!  LOL!

GO EAGLES!!

They needed Tampa Bay to lose (they did to the lowly Oakland Raiders). Needed the Bears to lose to Houston (they did!!)  Now they have to beat the Dallas Cowboys and they are IN!!!! The game just came on and it's definitely a Playoff Game!!!!  I am beside myself and don't know whether I'm comin' or goin'!!  But so far, so good!!  So for the Eagles (Iggles!) it's 'Win and In'!!

The most fun game was New England at Buffalo!!  The wind was so strong that:

1.  The goalposts kept bending over.... a different way depending on which end zone. A vortex thing!!

2.  When a field goal attempt was made, they had to stop the game and straighten them up with a forklift.

3.  When they did attempt a field goal, the ball immediately blew to the side!

4.  No passes were tried during the first half for the same reason.  Pass right and the ball goes left! 

Side note:  LOVE the Peyton Manning commercials!!!

Eagles are winning 3 to 0!!  Eagles are winning 10 to 3 but it's getting Nasty!!!  Did I mention that I HATE the Cowboys???  T.O. (Terrell Owens) is getting chatty on the sidelines!  No one loves him!!!!  POOR baby!!  He soooo needs a timeout!!!  What a Jerk!!!

We had soo much fun and the food was Great!!  We discovered that our elderly neighbors had nowhere to go and no one to spend Christmas with so we invited them to have Prime Rib with Becky, me and our friends!!

'Don't Give This Dog A Bone'

A thief remains at large after pulling off a daring heist - in the pet food aisle. Surveillance video at a supermarket in Murray, Utah, caught a dog shoplifting, KSL TV reportaed Wednesday.

The video showed the dog walking in the front door and heading to aisle 16, pet food. He grabbed a bone worth $2.79 and fled.  The store manager confronted the dog but to no avail!!  HAHAHA!!!!

It was GREAT!!  Maybe the best ever!!  Sooo much fun!!   And yes.... I took pictures!  This has been a Christmas Eve tradition for the past 27 years for me.  In fact, Becky announced our engagement on a Christmas Eve.  Becky's Mom and dad were in Nebraska and threatened to turn a hose on us!!  LOL!!  But we didn't have the  hose turned on us and were married 6 months later!

After an hour of inserting addresses their response was "Unable To Complete Your Request At This Time", So I kept clicking SEND!!  Some of you may have received 5 copies!  LOL!  But hey!!  Better than no copies!! I'm so embarrassed but I blame Hallmark!!

Buzz seems to be feeling much better today!  I guess the pain meds are working.  Now I'm trying to slow him down so he doesn't re-injure himself.

I bought a Prime Rib Roast today for Christmas dinner.  I had the butcher cut the bones off but put them back in place and tie the whole thing up!  More flavor, you know??  Besides, I paid for them!  Becky will be coating it with a garlic, horseradish, black pepper paste and slow roasting it.  Root veggies (Parsnips, Carrots, Yams and Potatoes) will accompany!!  Oh yeah!!  Yorkshire Pudding!!  Also a Beet/Red Onion/Horseradish relish for the Prime Rib!  Our guests are bringing the dessert.  I can't wait!!!!!

A HUGE storm is moving in tonight and not leaving until Friday.  They are telling us 4" of rain.  We are driving 40 miles to the in-laws tomorrow night so that should be fun!!  Luckily, I just installed new wiper blades.  By Friday there should be 5 feet of snow at our cabin so guess where we are NOT going??

I saw Billy at the post office today (he gets around!!) and gave him $10.  He was combing out his beard.  I've never seen so much 'stuff' come out!!  Some of it moved!!! Yikes!!  I hope he stays warm and dry....

What a circus!!  Buzz is a Terrier/WaterHound mix, Baxter is a Miniature, Long-Haired Dachshund and Bonnie is a Scottish Cairn Terrier!! What a trio!!

I took Buzz to the Vet's today because of his leg.  Nothing serious!~  Spine fine, no broken bones or anything torn, so he got pain pills!  He's dong better.  When I got home, my wife pulled out some other pain pills and read the name of them to me.  She then asked what the new ones were and I said 'Mixedterrier"!!  What a dork!!  She just rolled her eyes and laughed!!  As I said, Buzz is doing MUCH better!  He didn't poop or pee in the waiting room!!  But he did want that Greyhound he saw!!  LOL!!

Baxter, the Dachshund has a routine!  Wake me up at 6 am, annoy me until I feed him, pee on the wood floor and then crawl under the blankets and then sleep until noon!!!  Lazy Boy!!

Then there's Bonnie!!  The Queen!!  She is my baby and follows me everywhere!!  No birds, cats, other dogs or insects come into our yard without her permission!!  Her newest nemesis is a cat twice her size!!  LOL!!  Her other problems are with crows and, get this, harmonicas!!  Oh yeah!  Buzz has a major problem with.....roosters!!  WTH??!!  Here is Bonnie!!  Be nice and NO Harmonicas!!  (I especially like the Tina Turner hairstyle!!  LMAO!)

Back to John Berry until after Christmas!  My Fav!!!

We had a Great time with Mehdi last night!  We exchanged gifts and had a wonderful dinner.  He is now on his way to Morocco to be with to spend Christmas with his parents.  They are cool too!!

Today was 'Gardener Day' (they are taking a vacation for the next week) so we had a few things for them.  The usual bottles of water, some oranges and some cupcakes that Becky made.  They were very excited!!  We then decided to give them a $30 Christmas tip.  As I handed him the money he laughed and handed me my bill!!  LMAO!!  He said Merry Christmas and I said Feliz Navidad!!

After all of the rain we have received, there are storms due on Monday through Wednesday, so Christmas at our cabin looks out of the question.  I am NOT shoveling 3 feet of snow!!!

Buzz is not improving so it's the Vet for him on Monday!  I hope it's not his spine but I think he just strained something in his leg and Bonnie eggs him on!  It may be 'crate time' for him!!  I swear Bonnie barks out 'UPS Truck!" just to get his goat!!  Also, someone killed a Parakeet in our backyard and I think it was the neighbor's huge cat!!  Bonnie has been on the lookout for that cat, even though it's bigger than she is!! LOL!!!   It's up to her since Buzz is disabled and Baxter is afraid of anything larger than a cricket! 

Becky is making REAL Swedish Meatballs tonight!!  If they are really good, I'll post the recipe!  If they aren't??  Order pizza!!  Speaking of food, that Chile Rellano was HOT!!!  They left the seeds in!

Did I go to the beach?  No!,  Go skiing? Nope!!!  Sit at home and relax?? PFFFFT!  You all exactly know what I did!!  Cleaned the house!!  Our Friend from Morocco came here today.  You remember Mehdi!!  We have known him for 10 years!  He just got his Masters Degree at USC in Human Robotics (he invents and perfects prosthetics!)  And now he has been accepted at Wharton Business School, the #1 business school in the world! (Harvard is #5!!)  He has a Great future ahead of him.  So we went out to celebrate at our favorite Mexican restaurant!!  Chile Rellenos, Tacos, Fajitas, Rice and Beans!  Oh yeah!!  And a few Margaritas!!

Mehdi is staying the night then he is off to Morocco to visit his family. He is basically our son!!

I went in for a lab test today (they MISMARKED the first one!) The Lab Tech searched for 15 minutes for the 'kit' that I needed.  She finally found Two but after checking , 1/2 of the kit was expired!!  So she called the lab in Berkley, CA and they told her to use two other vials.   "You aren't doing this today, are you?"  She said yes and the Berkley guy said "NO You're NOT!!"  "You can only do these from Monday to Thursday because we don't pick up on Saturdays!"  So now I'm back AGAIN on Monday!!  ARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!  Oh yeah..... The lab tech had a cold and sneezed in my face twice!!

As you can see, my computer is fixed!  I followed my friend Steven's advice and after 5 or 6 reboots it worked!  I didn't lose anything and it's working faster that ever!  Go figure!!

Tomorrow is 'visit my friends day'!!!!  Love you all!!

I LOVE this Christmas song!!  Jimmy Buffet!!!

We have had this antique bedroom set (full-size bed, dresser and mirror) in our garage for 25 years, taking up space.  My SIL asked if she could have it. We said sure!!  Get that thing out of here!!  BIL Jason says he will be here in two hours so I go to the garage to survey the situation and oops! The headboard, footboard, sideboards and slats are stashed in the rafters.  And the dresser is buried beneath tons of crap in a corner. 

So I begin moving stuff from the corner, pry the dresser out and wait for Jason.  He's a really cool guy!  Firefighter/paramedic.... He's seen it all!  After three back surgeries, a neck surgery and donating a kidney to his chief, he still has a Great sense of humor.  I'm thinking that he had better because I'm not going up that ladder!!

By the time he arrives I have moved the cars to the street and the dresser is ready to go.  But the bed of his pickup has a mattress and box spring, filling it to the top.  We decide to pull the mattress out, lay the bed parts and mirror in and then reload the mattress.  So far, so good.  But then there's the matter of the dresser!  He tells me, No problem!!  I have plenty of tie-downs!  And sure enough, that load was secure!!

We shoot the breeze for awhile and he takes off (50 mile trip!) and that's when I realize that I have to put all stuff back!  But it is more organized.  Now wasn't that an interesting story??  LOL

Then rain is gone (we got 4"), and the snow is gone (our cabin got 2 feet!!) but more storms are lined up beginning in Monday and yes, my sprinklers are turned off.  I wish my neighbor's were...

Buzz's leg is doing much better!  He's back to barking at the mailman, UPS trucks and school busses!!

Pretty boring post but I like to keep in touch with my friends!!

PS:  The lab called today and informed me that they 'misplaced' my blood sample so I have to go back tomorrow!  Idiots!!!!

PPS:  My Desktop PC took a HUGE dump tonight!  Won't boot and so I can't get to "System Recovery", so I am on my wife's machine.  I need to either take it in to get fixed or get a new one for Christmas.  Becky's friend got this one for me and he asked what model I wanted but he bought something totally different!!  This thing has not worked well since I got it!!  I WILL buy my own the next time.  So tomorrow I'll switch to my laptop.  I'm tired of talking with 'Techs' from India!  In the meantime, I might be missing for a few days.  If I don't get back, Have a VERY Merry Christmas!!

1.  My dog Buzz hurt is right-back leg (He's the one with the replaced spine) but he seems to be doing better. In the meantime we have renamed him Tripod!!  The poor guy has been through so much.

2.  More heavy rain due tonight and temps in the 30''s!!  I thought that was illegal in California!! 

3.  My wife is taking customers to the Laker's game tonight.  Eating dinner and watching the game from the Staples Center restaurant.  And me?  I get her leftovers from lunch.  Actually not bad!  Shrimp Fajitas!

4.  Just when I thought that Albertsons couldn't get any worse they proved me wrong again!  Besides the fact that they hand you a map when you enter their store, it's so wrong!! It shouldn't take an hour to buy 8 items when the store is 5 minutes away.  I'm thinking that choosing the '15 Items or Less' lane wasn't the best choice.  The woman in front of me decided that doing her Christmas there was a good idea, so she bought thirty, 30!!!, gift cards!!  Each one had to be scanned and signed.  After standing there for 20 minutes, an employee reloaded my cart and dragged me to the automated 'Quick-Check'!!  Unfortunately he was a 'Shopping Cart Wrangler' so it didn't go well....  He ran out of bags so half of my groceries were just thrown in my cart!

I had my blood tests today but I sure wish she hadn't sneezed!!  OUCH!!!  One test left!

Sounds like a Monday to me!!

Quick question....  How can I copy a song from a CD or my Windows Media Player to www.fileden?  There must be a way!!  I use MP3Rocket for downloads and they are very good but have very few Christmas songs I have tons (OK, dozens) on CDs.  I must be missing something here.

If you didn't know, I LOVE Hockey!!  Anaheim Ducks/NY Rangers tonight (My wife is at the Lakers/Knicks game!) Not going good for the Ducks! Dammit!!! Not at all (Shaking head...).

New Christmas song tonight!

I know I asked for rain but WOW!!  3" so far!  It woke me up three times last night..  But OK...  It can stop now!!  More showers through Wednesday.  It looks as if almost the whole country is in deep freeze mode!!  I read that in the deep south, it hasn't been that cold since 1901.  Oh yeah.... Winter begins on Sunday!

When I logged on to MSN Messenger today, I was forced to install Adobe Media Player!  So I guess MSN isn't done screwing with us!  Why can't they use their own Media Player??

I found my John Berry CD today!!  The Christmas one.  Now if only I can figure how to copy it to my space.  Any suggestions??  It's REALLY good!!!!

We are refinancing our home and consolidating our credit cards and home equity loan so the appraiser was here today.  The one thing about the semi-repression going on now is that the interest rates are REALLY low!!  Time to buy stock and refinance!!

Not much going on in my neighborhood today (Didn't even need the 'Street Monitor' vest today), so on to other things

It's that time of year so I will be playing Christmas Music on my space. This first one is my favorite!  John Berry is/was a Country singer although he doesn't sound like one.  He has such a powerful voice but he blew out his vocal cords in the mid-80's.  The good news is that he is back!!  I'm sure that many of you have never heard of him but give a listen.  I'm sure that I will be playing more of his Christmas songs between now and the 25th.

Who the heck made me street monitor??   I really don't want that job.  But I have been elected.  Here's what happened today! (I know that you all like this stuff!).

1. I wake up at 6:30 this morning and it's ugly outside.  Big storm clouds, windy and cold.  Now for some reason, whenever I poke my head out the door it starts raining and it keeps raining until  I am back inside!!  What's with that??  Every time!!  Happened four times today!

2.  Saw my neighbor Tom on his pink bike so I ran over to check on him, (Yes... I got rained on!!).  He went to court on Friday and the DA decided to ask for a year in jail!  But the judge decided on 6 months so Tom will be checking himself in on Monday.  SOOO unfair!!  Luckily, he is Diabetic so he will spend his time in a jail/hospital and eat well.

3.  My gardeners came today and I told them to skip my backyard this week but by now, you know them!!  They didn't mow, but they weeded, pruned and trimmed.  Then they started on pruningthe  trees in the front yard. 

Charlotte (Crazy Lady) came out and began sweeping her sidewalk with this raggedy broom until I told her that they would do it for her.  Then she complained that her lawn was (get this!) TOO GREEN!!  I took the broom from her and sent her into her house. WTH??? 

Becky made a wonderful pork roast today with parsnips, turnips, garlic cloves and fingerling potatoes... glazeds with applesauce!  SO good!!  Thinking Christmas dinner??

Next week I will begin playing my favorite Christmas songs (Country, of course!).  Hope you like!!

I haven't made too much progress on answering your comments but I WILL!!

You know him too.  The 45 year old neighbor who lives with his folks and rides a pink bike?  Well, I talked to him today.  We ll, we are becoming good friends.... as long as he doesn't drink.  Anyhow, who said life is fair?  Tom had 3 DUI's 10 years ago and has been attending AA meetings since then.  He just got a great job last week.

His wife divorced him in 1999 and she got the car.  She refused to make the car payments so HE got a notice that the car would be repossessed so  he made a wire transfer to pay the car off and received a receipt.  Two nights later he hears a noise and the is a Repo Man in the car!  He confronts the guy and shos him the receipt but Repo Guy tells him, "I'm in your car.... It's mine!" And he then kicks Tom in the stomach!!!  Tom drags the guy out of his cars and kicks the crap out of him.  He is arrested for assault. 

Now those DUI's??  The Statute of Limitation on them was 8 years but our county decided to increase it to 10.

Bottom line, he goes to court tomorrow morning (with the DUI's back on his record) and faces a year in jail for the assault!!  I feel so bad for him!!  He has really tried to get his life back together.

I mean really!!  He attends his AA meetings, he paid off the car, with proof, and was assaulted first!!!  As we were talking, he was crying....  He will miss Christmas and his son's birthday.  All I could do was hug him and wish him the best.

I did try to lighten things up by advising him that when they serve the fried baloney in fail, stay away from the red sauce!!

I think that many of you remember him.  He's the homeless guy that I have befriended.  I see him 3 or 4 times a week and I always sit and chat with him and give him a few bucks.  We love to tease each other!  He makes fun of my hats and when I ask him for a photo he says "Sure!! For $100,000!".  All of his possessions are strapped to his bicycle and I have no idea where he sleeps.

Well, I saw him today and his bicycle was decorated for Christmas.... as best as he could.  He was wrapping gifts for his fellow homeless friends and he was so proud!  I WILL get a photo of him!!  I think he just might settle for $20.  He never asks for anything!!  He just moves forward.

I go in for the next test tomorrow and then make an appointment for the final one.  Everything medical for me happens at Christmas.... Tonsils, throat cancer surgery, measles, mumps, hepatitis, etc...  What's the deal with that???

Well, our Christmas tree is finally trimmed!  Becky did a Great job with what she had to work with.

She has collected quite a few unusual ornaments over the years so I will take some close ups.  I hope to see photos of your trees too!

 I finally was able to get Live Writer to download so this is my first attempt at trying it.  So far, so good.  Hopefully now, I will be able to post photos again!  Yeah!!!  It worked!

Our Valencia Orange tree is finally putting forth ripe oranges and boy, are they GOOD!!!  I wish I could share.  They're huge Navels and seedless.

I don't know how many of you have read or heard about that Marine Corps fighter jet that crashed into a San Diego neighborhood but it was horrific!!  A mother, grandmother and two small children were killed when the jet crashed into their home.  The jet left skid marks in their driveway.  Apparently the jet lost both engines and the young pilot was forced to eject.  He was found in a tree and is inconsolable.  He tried to make it to a nearby canyon but couldn't.  Four other homes and six cars were also destroyed. So sad for all involved.
